Job Title: Agronomy Manager

Department: Agronomy

Job ID: Full-Time

Reports to: COO

Summary: Supervise and provide leadership to the agronomy operations. Able to provide the support and knowledge of agronomy products to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports Full Circle Ag Co-op’s stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees always.
  • Responsible for hiring, motivating, and leading employees to meet job requirements.
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Responsible for making decisions related to production activity.
  • Responsible for marketing agronomy services, such as chemical, seed and fertilizer.
  • Comply with safety and security policies and participate in safety training.
  • Organizes and provides safety training for location employees, makes sure safety and security policies are being followed and paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Communicate daily activities, needs, and accomplishments with location personnel.
  • Coaches and trains employees on procedures and policies.
  • Reconcile and report customer issues and concerns to the COO.
  • Coordinate labor requirements with COO.
  • Responsible for maintenance of agronomy equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Evaluate agronomy equipment and scheduling replacement.
  • Aid on facility improvement planning and capital expenditures.
  • Complete all reports as required by COO.
  • Resolves routine agronomy operation problems.
  • Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.
  • Generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other interested parties.
  • Promoting products and techniques through educational presentations.
  • Visiting fields to collect the proper soil, seed, and plant samples.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required for housekeeping, maintenance, and safety.
  • Operate equipment (if applicable).
  • Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the COO.
  • Read and follow Full Circle Ag employee polices.

Communication Expectations

  • Notify COO/Safety Director of unsafe working conditions or equipment.
  • Communicates company policy and safety protocols.
  • Relay employee, maintenance, and inventory concerns to COO.
  • Inform COO of quarterly incentive performance.
  • Notify COO of breakdowns, equipment repair, replacement, or upgrades.
  • Notify COO of any agronomy standard or Full Circle Ag policy violations.
  • Immediately notify COO and Safety Director of unscheduled regulatory visitors.
  • Notify agronomy location bookkeeper of data entry errors immediately.
  • Communicate the information necessary to co-workers to perform tasks according to their job requirements, maintain location efficiency and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ask COO for information or instructions when needed.
  • Inform COO of suggestions to improve safety, operating efficiency or increase business.
  • Immediately report any work-related injury, property damage or theft to the, human resources, COO or Chief Executive Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Agronomy employees at the location. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with New Vision’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field and 4 years’ experience or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Must understand bulk material handling and equipment operation and the ability to analyze and repair equipment failures in the safest and most efficient manner possible. Supervisory experience preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Possess the ability to communicate clearly with customers and co-workers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver’s license and/or able to provide other endorsements as deemed necessary.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts: fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
