We are looking for a full-time Payroll Manager to manage the complete payroll process for a portfolio of companies under Atomic . This role will report directly to our Assistant Controller and HR Manager. We are rapidly starting and founding companies and need a dynamic individual with a builder’s mindset to optimize and own the payroll function across the companies.
What You'll Do:
Coordinate and process semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring the integrity of payroll data for a portfolio of companies.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies/errors and escalate for resolution where appropriate.
Payroll system administration including configuration, maintenance, and setups.
Reconcile/post all payroll and benefit related entries to the accounting system.
Own the new state set up process, including but not limited to, setting up withholding and unemployment insurance accounts, submitting tax filings, and resolving any penalties that companies may incur.
Initiate, review and finalize year end payroll procedures and tax forms.
Act as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others in the areas of payroll processing.
Initiate, analyze and verify payroll reports and documents for accuracy; make necessary adjustments or corrections through journal entries or other established procedures.
Analyze and respond to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures; authorize exceptions to the policy within defined limits.
What We're Looking For:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
College Diploma or degree in a recognized Accounting program.
5+ years experience in a full-cycle Payroll function.
Experience in a smaller, rapidly changing, environment where you have had significant responsibility for creating and enhancing policies and procedures.
Experience setting up and managing various state tax accounts and filings.
Prior experience running payroll for 300+ hourly and salaried non-exempt and exempt employees.
Strong accounting knowledge to handle all payroll and benefit related entries and the impact to financial statements.
Excellent reporting skills with proficiency in reporting software, including Excel and various accounting systems.
Experience with various payroll systems, Rippling and/or Zenefits preferred.
High degree of confidentiality due to the highly sensitive nature of data.
Prior international payroll experience is a plus.
