Job Description

Seeking leadership candidates to work with us to find, acquire and manage small businesses and step in as the day to day CEO post acquisition. We invest in businesses opportunistically across eCommerce, manufacturing, distribution, business services and healthcare services and see to match the business to the candidate.

After being hired, you would evaluate businesses with us and help in the acquisition process, while we seek to leverage your strengths across our existing portfolio. For example, if you happened to have deep expertise in paid search, we would plug you into to existing investments that could benefit from your expertise.

Cottonwood Acquisitions' foundation is one of using experimentation / trial & error to identify the best opportunities to grow the business. Cottonwood operates with humility, a passion for measurement and resource allocation and a belief in data driven decision making.

Please Note:

  • We buy small micro cap businesses with $1 to $3mm of EBITDA.
  • These small businesses do not have 3 layers of management. To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable managing others as well as doing yourself.
  • The job is paid a salary during the search and then receives a formulaic bonus and equity incentive in the business acquired that they become the CEO of.
  • This role is ideal for 1st time CEOs that have had P&L responsibility in a prior role. If you are successful in this role, you will not only generate wealth, but you will have the resume and skill set for 2 different paths. 1) To use the deal making and operating experience to buy your own business or 2) To take a CEO position at a far larger business. Either way, we will make introductions to make that happen.

Requirements Include:

  • 10+ years of progressive and upwardly mobile experience, including P&L general management experience.
  • Experience re-engineering and improving processes that drive efficiency, increase profitability, and support revenue growth.
  • P&L experience in middle market, smaller business, or highly entrepreneurial organizations.
  • Experience consolidating smaller competitors via acquisition is preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership ability, interpersonal skill set, and competitive nature.
  • Experience in an organization with a shallow management team where all team members are required to roll up their sleeves.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
